As part of the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha, local NGO Awqaf SA, in partnership with Diyanet, the religious body of Türkiye, is in the process of delivering meat packs to vulnerable communities after successfully completing the three-day Qurbani sacrifice. This food security and religious initiative aims to feed thousands of people in Cape Town, Northern Cape, KwaZulu Natal, Johannesburg, Namibia, and Mozambique.

Launch of corporate governance code for Muslim NPO’s breaks new ground in South Africa
A ground-breaking Corporate Governance Code for Muslim NPOs was officially launched during a webinar held on the 31st October 2021.
Jointly sponsored by the Association of Muslim Accountants and Lawyers (AMAL), AWQAF SA, the South African Zakah Fund (SANZAF) and the United Ulema Council of South Africa (UUCSA), the aim was to launch a code that would enhance and empower local NPOs in terms of effective governance principles.

This weekend, Turkey’s Diyanet Vakfi and the National Awqaf Foundation of South Africa (Awqaf SA) have partnered with several local and international community-based organisations, and will be distributing food and meat packs to 10,000 vulnerable families across Cape Town.
